I hope you are all keeping safe and well during our enforced “staycation” in Cubert. These are difficult and challenging times but as ever, change and crises brings out the best in people and the community and the Cubert&Holywell&Crantock help group is a great example. So too is the long list of volunteers helping those in the parish who are particularly affected by the Covid-19 restrictions.

Social distancing and the enforced lock down have inevitably impacted on the Cubert NDP Steering Group (SG) and progress with the Neighbourhood Plan. However, the SG have reacted and adapted as best we can and on Monday March 23rd we held an experimental online (Zoom) meeting with just the Comms group and myself, to see how feasible it was to hold “virtual” meetings. Following the success of this trial, we held a full meeting of the SG (via Zoom) on Monday, 30th March.

Currently the work of the Landscape sub-group has had to be put on hold in keeping with Government guidelines. We have also been unable to meet with other parish Steering Groups as planned, to hear how they tackled various elements of preparing an NDP. However, analysis of the survey results is ongoing with Andrew Jeffery and Calvin Beckford tackling the initial analysis of the raw data collected. The next stage will be to inform the parish of the findings of the survey but we are still considering the best way to do this during the current restrictions.

Following posting of the promo video on the website, Facebook and Instagram at the end of last month, feedback has told us that a number of parishioners are still not sure what a Neighbourhood Development Plan is and why we need one. So we are redoubling our efforts to raise awareness of the Cubert NDP and what we are trying to achieve. One aspect of this has been the “Get Creative Cubert” campaign and competition that we ran over the Easter period and a huge thanks to all those who entered as well as Tim Lord for putting it together and Lee and Helen at Cubert Stores for donating the prizes.

The superb winning entries can be viewed here https://www.cubertndp.co.uk/2020/04/19/get-creative-cubert-competition-winners/

Please have a look for yourself and help us to help Cubert.

Thank you,
Cubert NDP Steering Group.
